SketchDay

@ the Getty

Draw together. Explore together.

A relaxed sketching walk through the Getty Center.

Sketch Day @ the Getty is a casual group drawing walk through selected areas of the Getty Center. This is not a formal class — the focus is on creating a fun, welcoming space to draw, observe, and explore together.

Event format

Join us for a group sketching walk through the Getty Museum. The event will consist of walking through selected areas of the museum and making stops where participants will have time to draw from observation.

At each selected area, participants will draw for a limited 20-minute session. After each session, the group will regroup and move together to the next room or area.

  • 4 drawing sessions
  • 20 minutes per session
  • 30-minute lunch break
  • Walking and regrouping between selected areas
  • Approximate duration: 2 hours and 30 minutes
  • Additional time to consider: about 20 minutes for parking and tram

Look closer, sketch freely, and share the room with other curious eyes.

Sketch Day is about slowing down inside the museum, spending time with the work, and making quick drawings in community. Bring a sketchbook, find a view, and let the space guide the session.

Simple, social, and beginner-friendly.

Bring a small sketchbook, meet the group, and move through the space together. Each stop is timed so everyone has a chance to draw without overthinking it.
